  1. Lucas is my number 1 because he's just..every kinds of awesome. One, he doesn't care about what people think. Two, he's unconventional, and that, for me, makes him such a dreamboat. Three, bec rockstar :DD. Four, if you get stuck with someone like him during a typhoon, you'd definitely have no reasons to complain. And lastly, he brought out the best in Ellie and he loved her really, and truly <3

  2. Lucas. He's willing to compromise and even change some of his ways just to create happy memories to replace the bad ones. Plus he looks like a (secret) rock star.

  3. I actually grew to like Anton, especially after he told Julie that being with someone was never about the right time, but the right person, and that he was upfront about his relationships and choices.

  4. Diego! He knows how to set things right even if it means resorting to unconventional methods. His powers over sea, journey and work are awesome too.

  5. Team Robbie ftw! :D Because I'm a sucker for sweet, romantic gestures. Ahh, young love. Hihi (side note: had to decide between Lucas or Robbie, clearly young love trumps rock star XD)

  6. I'll definitely choose Robbie! Why? *dreamy sigh* He's sweet, he's handsome, he's charming, and the list of good characteristic goes on. In other words, Robbie is my dream guy. If only I can find my own Robbie in reality. Pfft.

  7. I want to answer Gabriel (because he's so mysterious and a con artist at that!) but he's not on the list so I'd go for my second choice - Anton. At first glance, he's the typical guy - flirty but you quickly realize that there's more to him than meets the eye. He has depth and you've barely scratched the surface. ;)

  8. Among the boys of Ms. Mina's works, my favorite guy is Lucas (Fairy Tale Fail). I chose him because his character will make you realize that the concept of a "prince" is not always those who portrays a "good guy image." A guy who is a rockstar with tattoes, a cool guy etc. He doesn't care what would people think over him. I definitely agree that prince charmings are not only those who are portrays a good image, has looks, and is always be yor knight in shining armor. Lucas shows his imperfections and made Ellie realize that what other thinks of him is wrong.

I love what he told Ellie. The line that made my day.

"And then you’ll want me to go to church again, and we’ll probably discuss that at length. But I probably will go to church with you at least once, and it will be in your college church, to erase the memory of what that douche did there.”

I hope someday I will meet someone like Lucas. A guy who is willing to prove to you that he loves you despite of his imperfections. :)

Don on the other hand, (Ellie's long term boyfriend) was characterized by a "good guy" image. Every girl's dream. As for me, I want to spunk him on face! He's a self - centered man really. ugh! I hate him.

  9. My favorite guy is Anton. I love him because he is so unassuming, and he is so effortless in the way he carries himself. Everyone labels him as a bad boy, but it seems like he doesn't realize it himself, and that is because he isn't trying so hard to get attention. You simply get drawn to him.

I like the fact that from a "bad boy", he becomes a good boy for the woman he loves. What I like most about his character is his being straightforward. This trait of him is shown in the scene where he confronted Julie about her "act" of going to church for Simbang Gabi.

But what I love about him most is the way he made Julie a better person by teaching her and encouraging her to do new things. You see, Julie is the kind of girl who's afraid of experimenting. But our Anton influenced her to try thing she hasn't before.

I should have chosen Lucas who shouldered a bad reputation to protect the woman who cheated on him, but my heart still chooses Anton because his character taught me to try new things. :)

  10. My favorite is Robbie! I think all of us would like a guy like him. I mean, he's so sweet! that's the most charming personality in every guy. If he's real, i'm gonna make him fall in love with me, too. :)))

  11. My favorite is Manolo. Because he is such a mysterious guy. And she did everything just to help Kimmy, ahe did everyhing for Kimmy without Kimmy knowing it. Meaning he don't want anything in return. He's cool, his kindness are not shown in his physical appearance that makes him more mysterious, that if you really don't know him, you won't say he's kind. All others would think is that he's a jerk. He's my ideal man. Someone who would prove a thing by doing it and not by saying it.

  12. Here I am joining a raffle contest for the Nth time hoping to win. Not just to experience winning a first but also because I just really love collecting books of obviously ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHOR. :">

  13. Quin. Definitely Quin. He's serious, brooding, and totally mysterious. "Quins" can even help bring out the best in you, and get you out of trouble. They are so by-the-book, that when they do bend the rules for you, you couldn't help but appreciate it.

The challenge of getting a Quin appeals to me a lot. The complications, the waiting, the hinting that seemed to get nowhere but does... It takes every woman's creativity to get a guy like Quin. But when she does, it's like, forever. I should know, I married one... I have my own real-life Quin! :D

  14. It’s definitely hard to choose which among the guys my favorite is because each one of them has a certain charm that I like about them. It actually seems like some sort of mental debate was happening in my mind as I was typing this. *Sighs!*

Anyways, I ended up picking Robie. Why? Simply because he reminds me of the guys I used to fantasize when I was younger. He is cute, charming, sweet and adorable. And of course he is also an all-around nice guy with good intentions towards the Hannah, the girl he likes.

In the Interim Goddess, the scene where he slowed danced with Hannah in front of her melted my heart. It was in that part where I decided that I would route for Team Robie (I used to be Team Quin ), because I felt that he truly loves the Interim Goddess.

In addition, in the Queen of Clueless, I loved the scene where he accompanied Hannah to Naga. Not every guy would cut class to help the girl he likes in her ploys of saving her best friend from a thief , in the province.

So yeah… Robie is my favorite and I hope he and Hannah end up together. 

  16. It's hard for me just to pick "one guy" but i guess my favorite is Anton, because "That kind of guy" is my favorite book so far. Anton is just my ideal guy, the bad-boy player type i know it's a risk to like/love that kind of guy but i can say it's worth it to be with "that kind of guy". The story also hit the part of my life, when I was in high school I'm like Julie the good-smart girl type who will fall for the player type and have my heart broken and still like the guy. But i guess now it's all about taking risks and chances so in the end you will never regret anything. :)

P.S. hoping you'll publish more books Ms. Mina! :"> ♥

  17. My favorite guy was Dante (though I crush Diego very much, too). He knew what he wanted, he's a history buff AND he's into martial arts. I probably have a bias because that's exactly my type. Plus the fact that he's younger--well, I can *almost* relate to Carla, except I have lesser hang ups about dating someone that young (here in Manila it's practically unavoidable. For a 29er like me, 25 is my limit, but I'd consider a mature 24. A rarity in Pinoy men, heh).

    ReplyDelete
  18. My favorite guy is Zack! People would think he's too 'torpe' for not telling Jasmine his feelings for her sooner, but I guess it's because he valued their friendship so much. He's a rare gem!

I see myself as Chesca from Love Your Frenemies. I have good intentions for my friends, but these always turn out the wrong way. Also, I like playing mind games like her (hehe) :-)

Ellie from Fairy Tale Fail reminded me so much of my high school best friend Razelle--she's just too OC when it comes to our travels. And she's just oh-so-hopeless and romantic, just like Razelle.

  19. Okay, my comment on this blog might appear a little biased for some reason that My Imaginary Ex is the only book of Mina that I read this year. Yes, I know, I've been missing a lot lately, but don't fret you guys, I have paperback copies of That Kind of Guy, which I believe had won as the Best Chicklit at ReaderCon few weeks ago, I also have No Strings Attached, these are books that I currently have.

Sorry for digressing (a lot) I hope I'm not boring you and to answer the 1st question, my favorite guy would be Zack Tomas, not only he's a gentleman in his own unique ways and a good friend to Jas, he is a comic book geek and fiction fanatic which I find a rare quality in a guy. I love hanging out with people who love reading and being an ardent lover of words, and a major book-hoarder, it's safe to say that I find Zack endearing and likeable enough despite being labeled as a soft guy. I mean, seriously, if a guy friend had offered me a car ride to home I probably would say yes. Who wouldn't want free passes and rides. To be honest, I loathe the bus.

My homegirl would be Kimmy, well, I have yet to read Love Your Frenemies but hear me out first, I can almost feel that I'm going to love her story, her own version of the truth. Surprisingly enough, I didn't despise her like most of readers did. I actually liked her. She's gutsy, strong-willed and independent. Sue, she might possess a cocksure confidence and an aura of bitchiness, it's something that I vouch for in a heroine. Some of you might not agree with me, but that's okay. Let's be friends, shall we? :)

  20. My favorite guy is Quin. He's a very mysterious guy. And, though he may not be very expressive, you can tell that he loves you and cares for you by the way he acts -- he's always there for you. :)

    1. I've seen myself in Hannah and Ellie's story, I guess. You know the thing of matching your friend with someone? I've always wanted to try that. And also the Fairy-tale-in-real-life expectation. The feeling that you always yearn and expect that in every relationship, there's a happy ending. That's why I see myself in them. :D

  29. My favorite guy would be Lucas from Fairy Tale Fail. Surely every girl would wish him to be someone for real.

I can totally relate to Ellie of Fairy Tale Fail too. At one point, I kept wanting an old flame back thinking that no one out there would take his place. But in reality, there's always someone worth waiting for for everyone.

  31. My favorite guy would be Manolo from "Love Your Frenemies". I loved him because he wasn't perfect. Not that it's bad thing. I felt that he was a real person who exists. Sure, he has flaws and all but past all that, he truly cares for Kimmy. He had always been there and always thought about how she was. Another thing is, you could see how he matured even with just the glimpses from his past and from the present him.

  32. I like how Zack is there for Jasmine, especially when Jasmine finally broke up with Tim. :)

  33. I like Lucas. He is quiet and mysterious yet caring and sensitive. My type of guy. Teehee. And what I observed is that he is also a good listener especially during Ellie's moments. Haha! :)

I see my friend(RK) in Ellie's character. What happened to Ellie actually happened to RK except that the guy broke up with her on her 17th birthday. The guy said that she has issues and he wants her to change. But the truth is, the guy is seeing someone else. My friend saved herself by not chasing and getting back with him. And she said it felt good to stand for herself. :) Just like Ellie she may be a Hopeless romantic but she knows what she deserves.

Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon nalang sa lahat!

  39. My favorite guy is Robbie!! He is really sweet and he always thinks of making Hannah happy. I was so *kilig* when he saved Hannah and danced with her after the bash. And I find it cute when he was like cheering himself that "she's not saying no" when he had taken her hand and rested the other on her hip. He is a dream guy for me! When I was reading that part, I had actually fell in love with him, like he was real. ♥♥♥

  41. Anton is definitely the kind of guy that I like. For me he is a cool guy and confident with himself. I like that about him. Even though he is a playboy he is willing to change and be a good guy for the love of his life, Julie. And that's why I like him even more. He is different when it comes to Julie. He treats Julie the other way he treats his girls before.

This one's my favorite (From That Kind of Guy by Mina V. Esguerra):

"Anton made it seem easy. He didn't take me out of my life; instead, he sort of slid into the empty spaces and made himself comfortable.”

  42. Aww. I was reading the comments and I don't even know what they're talking about! I really am missing a lot lately.. :(( There aren't really bookstores in our place so I haven't gotten copies of your book. But, I'll try reading, though.

  44. Diego is my ideal kind of guy. Aside from being a Sea God ( I am fascinated by the sea and its mysteries), he's a hottie as described in a book when he was in the pool swimming with Hannah --- "His body was insanely ripped, wet hair slicked back and not wildly curly, so yeah, this was suddenly all attractive to me" (Queen of the Clueless). His kisses brings warmth ---" ...warmth against my lips, I thought it might have been smoke, but it was Diego and one slow and long kiss" He's there when Hannah needs him most. He has showed his concern when Hannah was touched by a thief and didn't know what happened.

  45. Hands down, it's Lucas. I used to be a Dante fan, but when Lucas came into the picture, boom! What's nice about Lucas is that even if he was described as dreamy, we get to see a side of him that is scarred and emotionally dragged down (more than what we see in the other male characters in the other stories), and that makes him even rounder and more believable. I also like the way he was with Ellie at the start: casual, then slightly dependent emotionally (they were the only ones who understood each other completely), then he slowly pushes for that something more (I love love LOVE that kiss and siomai scene). I tell my friends to read Dante first before reading Lucas because Lucas will ruin Dante for them. And among all of Miss Mina's books I have read, Fairy Tail Fail is my most worn out paperback. Haha.

And even though Kimmy was a bit of a beatch, I was more emotionally connected with her, mostly because I also went through a phase wherein I was trying to organize my life; wanting to choose who should stay and who should go, wanting to start again. I learned also from her story that I should look at myself closely and be more conscious of how I should treat the people around me. I was crying near the end of it, and I finished it with a heavy but fuller heart.

  46. Hands down my fave guy is Lucas. I even dream about him sometimes. Hahaha. He just seems so real to me that I sincerely believe I will run into A Lucas during one stormy day. I really like how he's portrayed as being up there and unreachable but when Ellie gets to know him he's so normal and relatable, fanboy tendencies aside. I just love the progression from Office Crush to Cafeteria/Coffee break buddies to barkada and eventually The One. It's a very natural thing to happen in my mind and one I certainly hope happens to me! Besides I just have a soft spot for cool rocker dudes.
